A Steampunk Home

October 8, 2010 § Leave a comment

Holy cow! Bruce and Melanie in Sharon, Massachusetts, have styled their whole house (built in 1901) with steampunk sensibility.

(In case you’re not familiar with the term, Wikipedia defines steampunk like this: “Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction, alternate history, and speculative fiction that came into prominence during the 1980s and early 1990s. Specifically, steampunk involves an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century and often Victorian era Britain—that incorporates prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy.”)

I’ve never been a big fan of steampunk style, but I can’t help but admire the effort, drive, vision, and sheer genius that produced Brude & Melanie’s decor. Here are a few tasters – for the whole house tour, go visit Apartment Therapy Boston.
