(Oops… This post was supposed to appear earlier, but clearly I clicked on a wrong button when scheduling it. Well, here we are.)

What’s necessary doesn’t need to be unappealing, right? I sometimes wonder why so many of the life-saving necessities in our homes are butt-ugly. Pardon the expression, but they are. Susanna at Susannan Työhuone made gorgeous covers for her fire blankets:

She is a Finnish graphic designer and artisan, and has a wonderful eye for color and composition. (Take a look at her blog, if interested. Finnish only, sorry.) Susanna was inspired by the Swedish designer Lotta Friberg. Lotta’s covers look like this:

I’m going to make one, once we get a kitchen fire blanket. (I still haven’t ordered one. Ahem.)

P.S. Susanna is also the creative genius behind my wacky owl towels!
