Finnish Inspiration: Less for More

March 16, 2011 § Leave a comment

The latest issue (April 2011) of Dwell magazine features Scandinavian design (which a lot of the time, really, means Nordic; I also do it myself). The home of a Finnish couple, Susanna and Jussi Vento, made the cover.

The apartment is only 660 sf (approx. 61 sq meters), but it looks much bigger. Check out their master bedroom:

(Did you notice that both beds follow the Nordic bed-making aesthetics?)

I’m not a fan of modern or mid-century, or black and white for that matter, but there is a definite attraction in light, decluttered spaces like these two. More, please. 🙂

EDIT: Susanna Vento writes a blog, Varpunen (mostly Finnish, with English summaries). If you’re interested in her style, check it out.
