Special Dinners: February and March 2012

Our schedules have been funkier than normal this year, and we haven’t quite kept up with our regular special dinner schedule. February and March dinners did take place, though, and here’s what we ate.

Mr. E wanted to do a round of dinners based on The Lord of the Rings. (A short recap of the “project” can be found in the beginning of the Special Dinner: January 2012 post.)

The February dinner consisted of cabbage wedges in rosemary sauce, fish & chips, and a cake. It was based on the dinner at Bag End before Frodo moved away Hobbiton. Our March dinner was modeled after the meal the four hobbits had at the inn of the Prancing Pony in Bree: root vegetable soup, cold meat (ham and chicken) with gravy and bread, and for dessert a berry tart.

Visitors and a conference already threw off our scheduled April dinner, but I dare say we’ll get to it. 🙂
