Despite living in NYC for several years, neither of us liked it. Sure, the cultural opportunities are fantastic, but it’s just too crowded and dirty for the two of us to enjoy. We got used to the city and its ways, though, which has helped immensely the few times we’ve visited since moving out.
We visited our old haunts, including our favorite neighborhood restaurant Pisticci. It’s the only thing we really miss about the city: great, great food in a cozy little nook just around the corner from us. This time we had both dinner and lunch at Pisticci. We just love it so much. 🙂
And speaking of culture, we took advantage of the vast entertainment business and saw two shows:
(Iron Sky is the biggest independent movie to come from Finland. It’s co-produced / funded by a number of Finnish, German, and Australian companies, with significant crowdsourcing contributions. I find the process fascinating, plus I know a few people who worked on the production.)
On the way back, we got delayed for over 6 hours due to thunderstorms at both the point of departure and arrival. Not the ideal way to end a trip, but the airline did their best in a difficult situation.
It was a good trip, but it’s even better to be home.
