Brief Turkey Visit
September 20, 2013 § 1 Comment
Remember the wild turkeys that took to hanging around hereabouts? We neither saw nor heard them during August. Not a peep. As if they vanished off the face of the earth. We were wondering whether a hawk might have chased them off. (Judging by the sound, there was a hawk living in the area.) Then, about two weeks ago, we saw the turkeys again – all of them!
Henrietta and her five chicks came first. Her chicks are now huge, almost adult size. (They still behave like chicks, though.) Aunt Muriel and Sandy (the previously unnamed hen) with her three smaller chicks came just a little behind. They stayed on our back yard for a minute or two, and promptly moved to the neighbor’s yard by way of our front:
This time around the turkeys haven’t settled in, it seems. They came twice more, in passing, but that seems to be it. It’s nevertheless nice to know that all the chicks are alive and doing well. I kinda missed them.
